]]> Trenching fatalities have recently spiked and OSHA has updated the National Emphasis Program (NEP) in response. NEP will increase its focus on trenching and excavation collapses, making it a high enforcement priority and zeroing in on trench related violations. What does this mean? Essentially, there is an increased chance inspectors may be paying your jobsites a visit. OSHA will increase education and enforcement efforts and, as of October 1, 2018, inspectors are recording trenching excavation inspections in a national reporting system. An increase in inspections and enforcement should be expected.
